Carbon removal is moving from theory to practice, but implementation is still far from where it needs to be by 2030. This all-morning session launches the Carbon Removals Mutirão, a first-of-its-kind COP action agenda initiative to help deliver the COP30-aligned 2030 Implementation Target of 100 million tonnes of durable and 3 billion tonnes of nature-based removals.

Through keynotes and three focused panels, the event brings together governments, industries, cities, financiers, and innovators to explore how carbon removal can be integrated into real-economy systems — from mines and materials to farm support schemes and corporate balance sheets. The goal: move from scattered efforts to a shared, practical framework for near-term deployment at scale.

What we’ll cover

• From aspiration to acceleration
  The global state of carbon removal today, measured in real tonnes delivered, and what’s needed to reach the 2030 Implementation Target across durable and nature-based removals.
• Built into the real economy
  How existing industries — from mining and construction to agri-commodities — can embed CDR into supply chains and products, manage Scope 3 emissions, and unlock new carbon-negative value streams.
• Corporate action guides for net zero
  How companies can use the new Removals Action Guide to sequence reductions and removals, plan for residual emissions, build risk-balanced portfolios, and keep pace with evolving accounting and disclosure rules.
• Prototypes for a 2030 paradigm shift
  New models for treating carbon removal as a balance sheet asset, measuring it by risk profile, integrating CDR into national farm systems, and using city infrastructure as a deployment platform.
