Financing High-Integrity Carbon Removals under Article 6

Financing High-Integrity Carbon Removals under Article 6:
GDPR notice: This event will be photographed and live-streamed. Images and footage may appear on CDR30 and the Negative Emissions Platform’s website, social channels, and newsletter. Hosted by the Negative Emissions Platform (NEP) and Partners
Article 6 is advancing, but implementation is uneven. With 6.2 cooperative approaches and 6.4 UN-recognised credits emerging, buyers and policymakers need clear, practical direction to support durable removals, from authorisations and corresponding adjustments to credible corporate claims.
What we’ll cover
- Bankability basics: authorisations, when CAs are needed, and avoiding double counting
- Near-term guidance: credible buyer claims now; how to use mitigation-contribution units; immediate MRV priorities for durable CDR
- Equity & access: enabling participation by developing countries (policy readiness, MRV capacity, infrastructure)

- Andrea Bonzanni, International Policy Director, IETA
- Ressa Kombi, Senior Climate Change Officer, Kenya’s Ministry of Environment
