How can Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) support a fair, climate-safe future beyond net-zero? This UNEP-hosted session at the CDR Pavilion will bring together experts from governments, industry and research to explore how CDR fits into global net-zero and overshoot pathways, and how it can contribute to a regenerative, climate-resilient economy.
Panellists will discuss the latest insights from the State of CDR, governance and policy options for high-integrity and equitable deployment, and lessons from early national and regional strategies. The session aims to build a shared understanding of CDR’s role in managing temperature overshoot, identify policy and governance priorities, and inform UNEP and partners’ next steps for global dialogue and capacity-building on responsible CDR.
Framing presentation: State of CDR Insight Report – Nico Fairbairn, Head of Partnerships, State of CDR
Panel discussion Mirey Attallah, Chief of Adaptation and Resilience Branch, UNEP
Peter Christian Baggesgaard Hansen, Vice Director, Danish Energy Agency
