SUMMARY:Building Carbon Markets to unlock high-integrity Removals: Lessons\, Challenges\, and Pathways Forward
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by GIZ\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHigh-integrity carbon markets are entering a new phase – one where they must mobilise serious finance for both nature-based and engineered carbon removal\, without compromising on environmental and social integrity. This session looks at how Article 6 and voluntary carbon markets can unlock high-quality removals while addressing permanence\, risk of reversal\, and high up-front capital needs. \nWe’ll unpack lessons from real CDR projects\, debate what “high integrity” really means for removals\, and explore how robust methodologies\, safeguards\, and equitable benefit-sharing can turn theory into practice for project developers\, buyers\, and host countries. \nWhat we’ll cover\n\nCarbon markets for removals: How Article 6 and voluntary markets can support the development and implementation of high-integrity carbon removal projects.\nIntegrity\, permanence and risk: Challenges specific to removals – permanence\, risk of reversal\, additionality\, and high up-front financing requirements – and how to address them.\nFair and effective market design: Approaches to robust methodologies\, MRV\, and equitable benefit-sharing that can credibly mobilise finance for nature-based and engineered CDR.\n\nWho’s on stage\n\nGregor Sahler\, Panelist\, GIZ\nLuis Panichelli\, IETA\nNiklas Kluger\, Panelist\, InPlanet\nSonja Berdau\, Moderator\, GIZ\n\n\nJoin us\nIn person: CDR30 Pavilion\, Blue Zone\, Belém – Wed\, 12 Nov 2025\, 13:30–15:00 (local)Online: Watch the livestream on the Negative Emissions Platform YouTube channelStay updated: Follow CDR30 and NEP channels for programme updates and recordings

SUMMARY:CDR Industry Commitments - The Leading Ethical Charter
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Negative Emissions Platform (NEP) \nHow can an emerging industry build trust while scaling fast? For carbon dioxide removal\, the answer cannot be left to ad-hoc promises or marketing claims. It requires a shared ethical foundation that is simple enough to understand\, strong enough to matter\, and open enough for public scrutiny. \nThe CDR Industry Commitments are that foundation: a public\, industry-wide charter developed by the Negative Emissions Platform with input from civil society\, academia\, companies and governments. They set a baseline for responsible behaviour across the CDR value chain—from project developers and buyers to marketplaces\, insurers\, consultants and MRV providers—covering science-based climate goals\, sustainability\, monitoring and verification\, justice and human rights\, accountability and legal compliance. \nThis 30-minute spotlight session will unpack how the Commitments work in practice\, why dozens of organisations have already endorsed them\, and how they fit alongside other emerging soft-law frameworks. \nWhat we’ll cover\n\nWhy an ethical charter for CDR?Why the rapid growth of carbon removal needs clear definitions\, guardrails and shared expectations to protect climate integrity and social licence.\nInside the CDR Industry CommitmentsAn overview of the core principles—science-based climate action\, robust MRV and certification\, sustainability\, stakeholder engagement\, justice and equity\, accountability and regular review.\nHow companies are using the Commitments todayExamples of how signatories are integrating the Commitments into procurement rules\, project design\, governance\, and public communication\, and how this supports high-integrity markets for durable removals.\nHow to sign and what happens nextPractical guidance on becoming a signatory\, expectations for transparency and review\, and opportunities to shape future updates to the Commitments text.\n\nJoin us\n\nIn person: CDR30 Pavilion\, Blue Zone (Blue Zone accreditation required)\nOnline: Watch the livestream on Negative Emissions Platform Youtube channel\nStay updated: Follow CDR30 and NEP channels for programme updates and recordings

SUMMARY:Legislating for the Long Term: The Role of Parliamentarians in Advancing Sustainable CDR
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by GLOBE Legislators\, in the CDR30 Pavilion\nAs countries move from negotiation to implementation of the Paris Agreement\, legislatures will decide whether climate ambition turns into lasting change. Through their constitutional roles in lawmaking\, budgeting and oversight\, parliamentarians can anchor carbon dioxide removal (CDR) in national frameworks that are effective\, equitable and accountable over decades. \nWhile rapid emissions reductions remain the foundation of climate policy\, CDR—through both nature-based and engineered approaches—is now part of every credible pathway to global net zero. Yet most parliaments are only beginning to explore how to regulate\, finance and scrutinise this emerging field. This session will examine how lawmakers can support sustainable CDR\, safeguard communities and ecosystems\, and ensure that carbon removal complements\, rather than distracts from\, deep decarbonisation. \nBringing together Members of Parliament from Zambia\, Nigeria and Namibia\, alongside experts and advocates from GLOBE Legislators and beyond\, this discussion will highlight practical tools legislators can use—from setting long-term targets and standards\, to aligning budgets and strengthening oversight of public and private actors in CDR markets. \nWhat we’ll cover\n\nParliamentary leadership on CDRHow MPs can use legislation\, appropriations and oversight to integrate all forms of CDR—including nature-based and technological solutions—into national climate strategies and long-term development plans.\nSafeguards\, standards and social licenceOptions for embedding transparency\, environmental and social safeguards\, community participation and intergenerational equity into CDR laws and regulatory frameworks.\nEngaging constituencies in climate and CDRWays parliamentarians can explain CDR to citizens\, respond to concerns\, and ensure that projects deliver tangible local benefits such as jobs\, resilience and ecosystem restoration.\nParliamentary cooperation through GLOBE & CDR30How GLOBE Legislators and platforms like CDR30 can support MPs with technical capacity\, data\, peer learning and joint initiatives to strengthen integrity in emerging CDR markets.\n\nJoin us\n🗓 Tuesday\, 18 November 2025⏰ 15:30–16:30 (local time)📍 CDR30 Pavilion\, Blue Zone\, COP30 (Blue Zone accreditation required)

SUMMARY:Building with stone\, storing CO2: through ERW
DESCRIPTION:Building with stone can replace steel and concrete. Gabbro and Basalt stones are ideal for both\, building and ERW. The stone dust is generated by the process to cut stone blocks into slabs\, which are used to replace steel and concrete. This means in effect\, that replacement of steel and reinforced concrete generates a business model for scaling ERW to gigatons: a win-win-win solution. The main winner for the first time is the climate\, second winner is a new business model eliminating CO2 generation through buildings and third winner is people with enough homes and healthy food. The first Gabbro stone was utilized as a business model in Italy in the middle ages for making mill stones for finest quality flour of best pasta and bread making throughout Europe. The stone was found in a small town called “Gabbro” in Tuskany/Italy. Gabbro rock powder is utmost well suitable for ERW. Gabbro can be found anywhere else\, too\, mainly in the global south\, also in Europe\, China\, USA and Australia. \nKey Topics: \n\nLatest findings in ERW through the German CDRterra Project (cdrterra.de)\nHow the best suitable stones for ERW become a building material (LeBaMaN.de)\nHow the combination of building and ERW became a scalable business model for ERW (DACCUSS.de)\n\nModerator:\nKolja Kuse

SUMMARY:De-Risking Resilience: Blended Finance Pathways for Farmer Adaptation & Food Security
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Mati Carbon\nJoin a select group of development finance leaders at COP30 for an action-oriented dialogue on scaling market-based solutions for farmer adaptation and resilience (A&R) and food security — from high-integrity carbon finance to blended capital structures that de-risk private investment and corporate climate leadership. \nWith climate shocks already cutting smallholder farmers yields by up to 30% in parts of Africa and Asia (FAO)\, and over 70% of the world’s food produced by these same farmers (IFAD)\, the urgency to mobilise innovative finance has never been greater. Yet less than 2% of global climate finance currently reaches smallholders directly (CPI) — a gap this session aims to bridge. \nWhat we’ll cover\nThe invite-only Blue Zone session will feature concrete case studies\, sector-wide initiatives\, and emerging solution archetypes from several funders and practitioner organisations that stand out under the spirit of this ‘Implementation COP’. Join us for an active dialogue to help shape the next wave of developmental and private sector action towards scaling A&R financing. \nJoin us\n\nIn person: CDR30 Pavilion\, Blue Zone (Blue Zone accreditation required)\nOnline: Watch the livestream on Negative Emissions Platform Youtube channel\nStay updated: Follow CDR30 and NEP channels for programme updates and recordings

SUMMARY:Value Chain Decarbonization & Removal: Harnessing Industrial Systems for CDR
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Carbon Blue\nFrom agriculture to manufacturing and Waste treatment\, industrial production chains have long been synonymous with emissions – the very term Industrial Revolution is bound to the origins of the climate crisis. Yet the same sectors that transformed the planet’s atmosphere now hold the power to restore it. \nJoin us at COP30 in Belem for a discussion of industry leaders to explore the strategic role of VCDR in achieving net-negative emissions and dive into breakthrough technological and operational solutions creating synergy between Industry and climate. \n📅 When: Monday\, Nov. 10th\, 15:30–17:00\n📍 Where: CDR30 Pavilion\, C109 (Blue Zone) \nModerated by Chris Sherwood\, Secretary General\, Negative Emissions Platform\, this panel will feature esteemed experts:\n✅ Ashish Kumar\, Strategy & Financing Lead\, Mati\n✅ Tal Katz\, Director of Sales\, CarbonBlue\n✅ Ram Amar\, Co-founder & CEO\, Rewind \nValue Chain Decarbonization & Removal (VCDR) reframes industry’s role in climate action. It posits that entire value chains can become active contributors to carbon dioxide removal\, not just emission reduction. By rethinking production processes\, materials\, and supply structures\, industries can transition from carbon-intensive to carbon-negative operations. \nIdentifying key processes and embedding carbon-neutral or carbon-removing alternatives within them\, VCDR unlocks new opportunities for reduction\, CDR\, economical growth and optimization of industrial systems at scale. \n🎟️ Register here on Luma https://luma.com/ilcij2e5 and join the conversation – spaces are limited. \nJoin us\n\nIn person: CDR30 Pavilion\, Blue Zone (Blue Zone accreditation required)\nOnline: Watch the livestream on Negative Emissions Platform Youtube channel\nStay updated: Follow CDR30 and NEP channels for programme updates and recordings

SUMMARY:Building with stone\, storing CO2: through ERW
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by e5 – European Business Council for Sustainable Energy and Materials and TechnoCarbonMaterials\n\nBuilding with stone can radically cut the reliance on steel and concrete while permanently storing CO₂. This session explores how Gabbro and Basalt – used both as construction materials and as feedstock for enhanced rock weathering (ERW) – can turn buildings into carbon removal assets. Stone dust from cutting slabs becomes a resource\, not a waste stream\, linking building materials\, ERW\, biochar and biochemistry into one integrated climate solution. \nWe’ll unpack how this approach can scale to gigaton-level removals\, creating a market-financed CDR “machine” that cuts process emissions\, delivers resilient housing\, and supports food security. Drawing on lessons from German initiatives such as CDRterra\, LeBaMaN and DACCUSS\, the session will show how climate\, business and communities can all benefit when stone becomes a core part of the carbon removal value chain. \nWhat we’ll cover\n\nLatest findings on enhanced rock weathering from the German CDRterra project (cdrterra.de).\nHow Gabbro and Basalt evolve from optimal ERW rocks into high-performance building materials (LeBaMaN.de).\nHow combining building materials\, ERW\, biochar and biochemistry forms a scalable\, market-backed CDR business model (DACCUSS.de\, TechnoCarbonMaterials.global).\nOpportunities for deployment in Europe\, China\, the US\, Australia and the Global South\, where suitable stone resources are abundant.\n\nWho’s on stage\n\nKolja Kuse\, Chair\, e5 – European Business Council for Sustainable Energy and Materials (Session owner & moderator)\nKjell Kühne\, Board member\, TechnoCarbon (China); Leave it in the Ground Initiative\n\n  \nJoin us\nIn person: CDR30 Pavilion\, Blue Zone\, Belém – Monday\, 10 Nov 2025\, 10:00–11:30 (local)Online: Watch the livestream on the Negative Emissions Platform YouTube channelStay updated: Follow CDR30 and NEP channels for programme updates and recordings
